Privately Commissioned Paintings

An introduction to the Commission Process…

Thank you for enquiring about or undertaking a commissioned painting. Morgan takes on a very limited number of private commissions each year, working with clients who resonate with her studio approach and creative process. Some general notes on the commission process are outlined below. Before confirming any commission, Morgan will speak with you personally to answer any further questions, and to ensure that all parties share similar expectations for the resulting painting. It is important to her that you absolutely love your new painting.

During the commission process, each painting is conceived as an original artwork. Morgan does not offer copies or near-copies of existing paintings she has made already, out of respect for her collectors and her own artistic progression and integrity.

She will work with a client to make an entirely new painting that may share characteristics of previous paintings in terms of colour, light, mood or specific plant varieties. She will discuss this with each client to gain an understanding of their preferences.

It is important that each client understands that the creative process of oil painting necessitates that each painting will evolve during its creation. That is part of the magic of painting with oils! Morgan can guide each painting towards a general outcome but cannot provide exact details of how each painting will look until its completion. Similarly, Morgan will do her very best to accommodate individual preferences, but cannot guarantee exact colour matches or compositions.

Sizings, pricing, and completion timeframes are discussed with each client by individual consultation. A very general indication of a comfortable timeframe is 2 - 3 months for each painting. However, the evolution of each painting is different, and timeframes may need to be extended to accommodate the painting process and Morgan’s studio schedule of commission and exhibition work.

Commissions through Morgan Allender Studio require an initial 20% deposit and full payment is due upon completion and prior to delivery. Morgan is careful to work only with clients with whom she feels a good rapport and clear channel of communication.

Upon completion, the client will be sent professional photographs that provide a clear indication and understanding of the finished artwork.
